The Coalition of Northern Youths Consultative Movement (CNYCM) has cautioned former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, against comments alleging Federal Government complicity in the nation’s worsening insecurity.
In a strongly worded statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Yusuf Audu, and National Secretary, Bilal Galadima, the group described El-Rufai’s remarks as “reckless, baseless, and irresponsible.” They demanded that the former governor retract the statement and issue a public apology.
The coalition warned that such allegations could inflame tensions, weaken national unity, and derail collective efforts to tackle insecurity.
“As leaders, we must prioritise communication that fosters cohesion and constructive problem-solving rather than rhetoric capable of aggravating existing divisions,” the statement read.
The CNYCM urged political leaders to exercise caution when speaking on sensitive matters like security, stressing that responsible dialogue was essential in building public trust and mobilising collective action against national threats.
The group also commended Senator Shehu Buba, Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, for what it called his “strategic non-kinetic approach” to addressing insecurity. According to the statement, Buba’s efforts have earned recognition for promoting peace and stability across the region.
The coalition hailed the senator’s leadership as a model of responsible governance, while reiterating its call for El-Rufai to withdraw his comments and support national efforts toward security and unity.
