The Nigeria Police Force has announced the deployment of additional security personnel nationwide to ensure the safety of candidates sitting for the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations, scheduled to begin on Thursday, April 16.
The move follows reports circulating on social media raising concerns about the safety of some examination centres, particularly in the North-Central region. However, the police have dismissed the claims as unfounded.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, the police said adequate measures have been put in place to guarantee a smooth and secure examination process.
According to the statement, both uniformed and undercover officers will be deployed to examination centres across the country, while rapid response teams will be strategically positioned to handle emergencies. The Force added that it is collaborating with other security agencies to monitor potential threats and conduct routine checks around exam venues.
The police warned that anyone attempting to disrupt the examinations would be arrested and prosecuted.
Candidates and parents were urged to ignore unverified information and rely only on official communication from JAMB and security agencies. Candidates were also advised to arrive early at their centres and report any suspicious activity to security personnel.
The Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all participants throughout the examination period.
