President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has brushed aside mounting pressure from opposition figures as the 2027 general elections approach, insisting he remains focused on governance and will not be intimidated.

Speaking on April 16, 2026, during a meeting with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors led by Governor Hope Uzodimma, Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s democracy and development. He dismissed attempts by opposition leaders to unsettle his administration, noting that no political alliance or coalition could weaken his resolve.

The President made indirect references to prominent opposition figures, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, while criticising recent political activities under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing them as lacking impact.

Reflecting on his political journey, Tinubu highlighted the challenges he faced during both the party primaries and the general election, emphasizing that resilience and determination saw him through.

He also underscored the importance of respecting judicial decisions, stating that adherence to the rule of law remains vital for sustaining democracy. In addition, Tinubu questioned the long-term effects of past privatisation policies associated with some opposition leaders.

Reiterating his administration’s priorities, the President assured supporters that efforts to strengthen the economy, improve infrastructure, and enhance governance would continue. He maintained that his government would stay the course despite political opposition.
