A peaceful church gathering in Delta State was abruptly interrupted when a group of traditional masqueraders, accompanied by some youths, forcefully entered the premises, triggering chaos among congregants.

Witnesses said the intruders disrupted the ongoing service, sending worshippers running in different directions as confusion spread across the church environment. In the process, several people were reportedly injured, including the officiating pastor, who was caught in the disturbance.

Community sources suggest the incident may be tied to lingering disagreements between adherents of traditional practices and Christian worshippers in the area, though the precise cause has yet to be confirmed.

Those injured were quickly attended to, with some taken to nearby clinics for further medical care. The incident has heightened concerns about safety during religious activities, especially in communities where cultural tensions occasionally surface.

Residents and stakeholders have since called on security authorities to investigate the attack and ensure that such disruptions do not occur again, stressing the need for peaceful coexistence among different belief groups.
