ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Former Abia 2027 Governorship Election Aspirant, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, has congratulated Nigerians at home and in the diaspora on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, describing the day as a reminder of the nation’s enduring commitment to democratic governance, unity, and progress.

In a Democracy Day message made available to journalists on Thursday, Chief Kalu commended the resilience, patriotism, and sacrifices of Nigerians who have continued to support the country’s democratic journey despite prevailing economic and social challenges.

According to him, Democracy Day remains a significant national milestone that honors the struggles of past heroes who fought for the rights, freedoms, and democratic values Nigerians enjoy today.

Chief Kalu expressed confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that while the ongoing reforms may appear difficult in the short term, they are laying the foundation for sustainable economic growth, national development, and a more prosperous future for generations to come.

He stated that the administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, economic restructuring, investment attraction, and institutional reforms are gradually positioning Nigeria on a stronger path toward stability and competitiveness in the global economy.

“The journey of nation building requires patience, sacrifice, and collective commitment. While challenges remain, there is every reason for Nigerians to remain hopeful. The steps being taken today are aimed at creating a stronger economy, expanding opportunities for young people, and securing a better future for all citizens,” he said.

He also paid tribute to Nigerians living across the world for their contributions to national development through investments, remittances, innovation, and positive representation of the country on the global stage.

He described Nigerians in the diaspora as worthy ambassadors whose achievements continue to showcase the nation’s talent, resilience, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Chief Kalu further called on citizens to embrace unity, peaceful coexistence, and active participation in democratic processes, stressing that national progress can only be achieved when leaders and citizens work together toward common goals.

“As we celebrate Democracy Day, let us renew our faith in Nigeria, strengthen our commitment to democratic values, and continue supporting efforts aimed at building a nation that future generations will be proud to inherit. Together, we can achieve the Nigeria of our dreams,” he added.

Chief Kalu wished all Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Democracy Day celebration and prayed for continued peace, progress, and prosperity across the country.
