The United States Mission in Nigeria has directed visa applicants to disclose their complete social media history from the past five years when filling out the DS-160 visa application form.
In a post on its official X handle dated Monday, August 18, 2025, the Mission stressed that applicants must list all usernames or handles used across any social media platforms during the period.
The Mission added that applicants are required to certify the accuracy of all information provided before signing and submitting the application. It warned that failure to include social media details, or providing misleading information, could result in visa denial and possible ineligibility for future applications.
“Visa applicants are required to list all social media usernames or handles of every platform they have used in the last 5 years on the DS-160 visa application form. Omitting such information could lead to visa denial and affect eligibility for future visas,” the statement read in part.
