Two palm-wine tappers were abducted by armed men while working in the bush near the Emuhu area of Ika South, Delta State. The kidnappers demanded money from the victims’ families, but when only ₦10,000 could be raised, they rejected it and killed one of the men.

Security teams, including local vigilantes and law-enforcement units, launched a coordinated search across forest paths stretching from Emuhu to Urhonigbe in Edo State. Their efforts led to the discovery and rescue of the second victim, who was found extremely weak and unable to walk. He is currently receiving medical care.

According to the survivor, the kidnappers became violent after deeming the offered ransom too small. He explained that they turned on his colleague and ended his life before leading him deeper into the forest.

The incident has intensified concerns over rising armed attacks on rural workers, as authorities continue efforts to locate and apprehend the perpetrators.
