Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, declaring that the state is determined to fully harness its economic potential.
Speaking at the Government House while receiving a delegation from Zenco Group led by its Chief Executive Officer, Chief Cletus Oragwa, Otti said his government remains focused on attracting serious investors and promoting sustainable development.
He stressed that Abia is open for business and endowed with both human and natural resources capable of driving economic growth.
“We are very open to business and determined to unlock the full potential of Abia State,” the governor said. “Our goal is to change the narrative by providing a conducive environment for investment, manufacturing, and enterprise.”
Otti described Abians as industrious and talented, adding that his administration is working to ensure that both human and material resources are effectively utilised.
The governor revealed that agro-industrial firm Presco has already committed about $200 million in investments in the state over the next few years, noting that more investors are showing interest due to improved infrastructure and security.
He commended Oragwa for considering a return to invest in Abia, recalling that the businessman had previously operated in the state before relocating to Lagos due to past challenges.
In his remarks, Chief Oragwa praised the visible improvements under Otti’s leadership, stating that Abia has become increasingly attractive to investors.
He noted that he was familiar with the state’s previous conditions and would not have withdrawn his earlier investments if infrastructure and security had been adequate at the time.
According to him, the current administration’s reforms have restored confidence, expressing readiness to reinvest in the state.
Also speaking, a member of the delegation, Mr. Simon Oshi, commended the governor’s infrastructural strides, particularly in Aba, describing Abia as an emerging investment destination.
He said the improved business climate has positioned the state as a viable hub for new investments.
Top government officials, including the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu; Senior Special Assistant on Transport, Dr. Obioma Nwaogbe; Chief Information Officer, Mr. Gerald Ilukwe; and Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Comrade Samuel Igwe, were present at the meeting.
