The Afaraukwu Youths, under the leadership of their President, Comrade Alozie Irokansi, have passed a strong vote of confidence on the Member representing Umuahia Central State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Honourable Chinasa Anthony, popularly known as Abiola, citing his impressive track record and people oriented representation.
Speaking during a community gathering in Afaraukwu, Comrade Irokansi said the endorsement was a reflection of the collective satisfaction of the youths and the entire community with the lawmaker’s performance since assuming office. He noted that Honourable Abiola has distinguished himself through impactful projects and consistent engagement with his constituents.
The youth leader highlighted several achievements credited to the lawmaker, including the attraction and construction of the Enyiukwu Madonna Ring Road in Afaraukwu, Aguwa Crescent Road, and the Polycon to Ahiama Afaraukwu Road, which he said have significantly improved access and stimulated economic activities in the area. He also commended the facilitation of the Isigate Market to Afara, describing it as a major economic boost for traders and residents.
On empowerment and social welfare, Comrade Irokansi praised Honourable Abiola for training over 100 youths in skill acquisition programmes, providing millions of naira in grants to women, and offering financial support to over 400 youths across Umuahia Central. He added that the lawmaker’s intervention in education through full scholarships and the construction of a Secondary School for the Blind has further demonstrated his commitment to human capital development.
He further listed the provision of boreholes across communities and the installation of distribution transformers in areas such as Health Center Road, Obuzo Estate, Kolpin, and Niger Road as key infrastructural strides that have improved the living conditions of residents.
In a significant development, Comrade Irokansi announced that beyond the youths, the Afaraukwu Ancient Kingdom has also thrown its weight behind Honourable Chinasa Anthony, approving him for a second tenure in office. According to him, the decision was based on the lawmaker’s visible achievements, accessibility, and dedication to the welfare of his constituents.
He concluded by urging the lawmaker to remain steadfast in delivering quality representation, assuring him of the continued support of the Afaraukwu people as he prepares for another term in office.
